About the Event

Have you ever wondered how solar panels actually work? Find out by making your own, alongside a small group of others. You'll be supported and tutored by Repower London and learn how to do it.

Gordonbrock road has been going through the 'Future Fit Street' process and some homes are near to installing wall insulation. Read more about that process here. A more economical option is solar panels, which can provide for more than an average family's electrical needs during daylight hours. Solar works quite simply: it uses the energy from the sun to create electrical energy.

At this workshop we'll use a soldering iron to pull together the solar cells to make a whole panel. This workshop is for adults over 16 years only. At the end of the workshop names will be pulled out of a hat to take the resulting solar panel home, and if you win you can can charge your phone from the electricity generated. No experience with solar panels or soldering is necessary to join, but you do need to be able to stay for the whole three hours.

We encourage you to come on foot or by public transport, but if you have mobility requirements there is private parking at the church. Please contact Zaria on zaria@selce.org.uk for any questions.
